Kinship and foster carers play a vital role in the lives of children who have often experienced trauma, loss, or early adversity. I provide tailored support to help carers understand the complex emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs of children in care.
With over 20 years of experience supporting vulnerable children and young people, I’m here to empower kinship and foster carers with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to meet each child where they are—and help them heal, grow, and thrive.
Children and young people in care have often experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or significant adversity. As a result, they may present with a complex mix of emotional, behavioural, neurodevelopmental, attachment, educational, and mental health needs—and are frequently misunderstood. Foster and kinship carers play a critical role in helping these children heal and thrive. But caring for a looked-after child is both rewarding and challenging, and you shouldn’t have to do it alone.
With over 20 years of experience supporting vulnerable children and young people, I offer specialised 1:1 support for kinship and foster carers, helping you to:
This is a safe space, free from judgment—where your experiences and challenges are validated, and where you're supported with practical tools and compassionate guidance.
Being a foster carer is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be emotionally demanding and isolating at times. The challenges you face are real—and so is the need for ongoing support. That’s why independent, tailored support is so important—not just for you, but for your whole family, including your own children.
My support services are designed to help you:
Whether you're just starting your fostering journey or have years of experience, you're not alone. The right support can make all the difference—for you, your family, and the children in your care.
I understand that support needs to be accessible. That’s why I offer a flexible approach to payment:
I offer one-to-one consultations designed to empower kinship and foster carers to better understand and support the unique needs of the child in front of them.
Together, we’ll work to:
These sessions provide a supportive space where you can explore challenges, ask questions, and gain tools tailored to your child’s needs—and your family’s reality.

Foster and kinship carers often feel overwhelmed when trying to secure the right support in school for their child. Children in care may need a combination of educational adjustments, pastoral supports, and access to specialist services in order to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. This is familiar territory for me.
With over 20 years of experience supporting children and young people with significant Social, Emotional, Behavioural, and Wellbeing (SEBW) needs, I help carers and schools work together to ensure that looked-after children are understood, supported, and given every opportunity to reach their potential.
As a trauma-informed practitioner, I bring compassion, clarity, and expertise to every situation—ensuring that the voices and needs of our most vulnerable children are heard and responded to in the classroom and beyond.
As already parents to our biological children we naively thought we had the skills and know how to open our home and become foster parents! Little did we know this would open us to a world of parenthood that we had absolutely no clue about and no experience in!
We felt way out of our depth and very overwhelmed by the complex emotional needs that our foster children presented with and many times felt like we were failing horribly!! We had no clue how to “parent the children in front of us” and this is where Katrina comes in!
Katrina has worked closely with our family and equipped us as parents with the tools and knowledge to be the best that we can be for all of the children in our care including our own!
There has never been any judgement and she has always made us feel that we can do this!! Without her skills and knowledge and most importantly her support we would never have gotten where we’re at today and we will always be eternally grateful to her!!
Against all the odds our new family is now thriving and without Katrina our story would have had a very different ending!
