To See the Change, We Have to Be the Change
In this whole-school training session, we’ll come together to deepen our understanding of what it truly means to create a trauma-informed, nurturing school community where all children can thrive. We'll begin by exploring why a consistent, compassionate school culture is essential—especially for pupils who face adversity or struggle to "do well." Together, we'll take a whistle-stop tour of the core theories that guide our approach, including ACES, Trauma-Informed Practice, Nurture Principles, and Neurosequential Development. We’ll reflect on the vital shift toward relational practice and unpack the 3Rs—Regulate, Relate, Reason—as a practical framework for supporting emotional and cognitive readiness to learn. We’ll also explore a powerful fourth ‘R’: Rupture and Repair, considering the impact of our responses to behaviour and how we use meaningful consequences and relationship-focused strategies. Finally, we’ll look at how to reframe challenging behaviour through a lens of unmet need, think about how we understand and support our pupils effectively as well as tools we can use to plan appropriate adjustments and interventions and measure the impact and effectiveness of these.
This session is about challenging ourselves as professionals, nurturing growth within our team, and walking the talk—because lasting change begins with us.
What you feed grows.
What You Feed Grows is a powerful and reflective staff training day that places your wellbeing, mindset, and resilience at the heart of professional practice. In this session, we explore the lasting impact educators have on our pupils—not just through what we teach, but through who we are and how we show up. We focus on nurturing self-care, self-awareness, and sustainable wellbeing, while also examining the attitudes and thought patterns that influence our daily experiences. Together, we unpack the concept of “response-ability,” challenge unhelpful mindsets, and reflect on the values that drive us. At the core of this session is the belief that safe, respectful, and supportive relationships are the foundation for learning—and that when we tend to our own growth and wellbeing, we become the difference that makes the difference.
